- 2 : Ages 8-12, Wall Climbs
- 3 : Ages 13-18, Wall Climbs
- 4 : Ages 13-18, Routes

- 6 : Ages 19+ Beginner Routes
- 7 : Ages 19+ Intermediate Routes
You should select the tier in which your age falls and aligns with your climbing level.
Wall Climbs are for using ALL the holds on the wall (i.e. Rainbowing) to get to the top. There are 9 different walls, each had its own difficulty and is worth more points for the harder walls.
Route Climbs are for using the specific colored holds that match with the Card on the Wall with the Route Grading (i.e. 5.8 to 5.11+)
No, there are checkpoints on each of the walls labelled with a big circle with the Number 1 and the Number 2.
If you don't get to the top, just note and record your climb where you stopped above or inline with one of the Checkpoints.
Use the QR Codes to log your climbs! Every little bit helps!
No! You are not limited to any particular wall when doing the Wall Climb tiers.
There is NO limit to how many times you can climb a single wall / route as well.
You can do the same one over and over, it's your choice.
If you are doing the Wall Climbs (Tiers 1,2,3,5), you may climb the Walls using ALL the holds on the wall and not just a single color or route.
If you are doing the Routes (Tier 4), you can do any of the Routes 5.7 to 5.11+ or just the Wall Climbs, but wall climbs are worth significantly less points
If you are doing the Beginner Routes (Tier 6), you have to do 5.7 to 5.10a or just the Wall Climbs, but wall climbs are worth significantly less points.
If you are doing the Intermediate Routes (Tier 7), you can do any of the routes 5.7 to 5.11+, but you will score much higher for doing the 5.10a and above routes.
NOTE: Tier 6-7 is only for Ages 19 and up, Tier 4 is for ages 13-18
Scan the specific QR Code for the type of climb you completed!
1. Routes Entries - Record your Route Attempt / Climb
2. Wall Climb Entries - Record your Wall Climb Attempt / Top out
3. Speed Climb Entries - Record your Speed Climb Time
The QR Codes can be found at the North YMCA on the Rock Wall! You will need a phone to scan it!
The Speed climb may ONLY be done on Wall #9.
You may use ALL the holds on the wall to get to the top
A finished speed climb is when you hit the Number 9 at the top of the wall.
Record your time with a friend and scan the QR Code to log your attempt.
You are NOT limited to how many times you can attempt / log the speed climb.
For the Start you MUST have 2 hands on the first Teal colored rock with the card named Sonic the Hedgehog!
NOTE: The fastest climber from each tier will be rewarded a prize!
YES!
We will have 2 Saturday climbing sessions from 12:00 - 01:00 PM where you can come to climb and staff will belay you and assist with recording your climbs!
These will be October 11th and 25th. The other Saturdays in October will be the traditional Open Climb sessions and Climbing Competitors will not be prioritized.
You can climb any day in October within the YMCA's open hours. You just need to have someone to belay you or hook you into an Auto Belay.
For the Tiers, there will be trophies awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. There will be rewarded for males and females within the higher tiers.
For the Speed Climb, the fastest climber from each tier will receive a prize!
The trophies are provided by a local small business that custom creates rock climbing holds and more! You can find out more about Cowboy climbing through their Etsy Store or Website!
Technically, no.
You can only compete in both the Speed climb and a single Tier category for the trophies and prizes.
For example, if you were to sign up for Tier 4 (Routes) but you wanted to still do Wall Climbs that is fine, but you will only be in direct competition with those in your chosen tier. You are limited to one trophy and one speed climb prize.
Absolutely!
This would be in your best interest, as the climbing staff will be able to help you log them all through out the month.
However, you are NOT limited just to those days, you can come in during any of the YMCA open hours and use the Auto Belays / Ropes if you are certified or have someone who can belay you / hook you into the Auto belay.
Just be sure to scan the QR code if you are on your own and log your climbs yourself, you will need a phone to do it! You don't have to have your own phone, you just need someone to be able to scan the QR code and fill out the entry form for each of your climbs.
No!

2. Beginner - Wall 7 & 1
3. Intermediate - Wall 8 & 2
